How long is a piece of string?
Jul. 2nd, 2010 10:27 pmA lot of things have happened since the last post, most of them exams. So now I have my official degree classification, which is not as good as I hoped it would be. The graduation ceremony is on the 12th and my Dad's coming over from Norway for it, which is exciting!
The exams were horrible. There were eight of them one day after another squished into two weeks. I did really badly in them, but well in my project thesis so despite flunking most of them I at least still got a degree.
I'm hoping to go to Sheffield next year to do an MA in Japanese studies, but I haven't heard back from them yet. My fingers are constantly meterphorically (and sometimes literally) crossed. I really want to get this. My confidence will take another knock if I don't. I've never failed exams before, this has been quite a shock.
It seems to be a family curse*- you do well until finals then don't get a good grade. Most of them went on to do PhDs inspite of that though, so there's still hope!
*Except my cousin who broke the curse by getting a 1st! Though his wasn't in science, it was history.
I've been doing lots of weddingy things too. One of my best friends is getting married in a couple of weeks (I'm a bridesmaid!) and it was her hen celebrations last weekend. They were very fun. We had a photo challenge and a picnic and a murder mystery evening. I've never seen my friends dance so much as when we were out then ever. We also watched the terrible, no-good, awful England-Germany game. I can't believe how bad we were. There were a few depressed people at the evening service that night!
At the moment I'm sorting all my stuff ready to take it to my Mums on Monday. I have a lot of stuff. Most of it's books. I'd forgotten how many books I had until I piled them up in a big heap on my floor. The majority of space will be taken up with them. Tomorrow I'm going to tackle the things stored under my bed. It will be a long day I think. Cleaning to be done on Sunday and Monday.
Mum's coming to pick me up with her boyfriend. It seems pretty serious with him. He's the first boyfriend she's had since my Dad (unless she had a secret one, but I don't think so). He seems pretty nice, not like my Dad at all. Which is probably part of the attraction now I think about it.
Now I'm going to finish off the chocolate ice cream and listen to the Now Show. :)
